Aluminium
Working Aluminium

Once extracted, in order to result in the finished product, aluminium undergoes several processing stages which can generally be divided into two categories: transformation/cleaning and finishing. The process of extrusion forms bars used as a raw material for many items. The die-casting process differs in that the metal in its liquid state is injected into suitable moulds, from which the complete product is obtained. In order for it to be moulded into concave forms, aluminium harnesses the forming technique. After removal of any impurities by immersing the material in baths, the objects obtained through forming or extrusion processes undergo the principal anodizing process: on combining it with oxygen, the aluminium is oxidized, and thus becomes resistant to corrosion. The colour bath uses finishes that are completely non-toxic and range from natural aluminium to black, including brown and nikel. Parts that cannot be anodized are brushed and treated using specific paints. Ycami carries out every stage of the process, starting with the raw metal. It has a new patent for a special processing technique termed “ALUGRAFIC”, which makes it possible to design glossy graphic images and signs in relief in contrast with a background made opaque by the anodizing process. It is a procedure that enhances the aesthetic characteristics of aluminium for making designer objects that take centre stage in contemporary furnishings.
